The Varnish (Hybrid) Cryptoglyph is a zero extra production cost anti-counterfeiting solution of AlpVision. This solution is applied in situations involving very large volumes of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG). It is ideal for situations where covert authentication is necessary for production batches and where individual identification is performed by overt serialization if required.

The first step is to print covert Cryptoglyph marking on the entire surface of the packaging. Therefore a unique pattern per batch identifies the products amongst other batches or counterfeiting.

The detection of the presence of the invisible marking is made with Fingerprint-like detection software. The dimensions of the invisible marking can be as small as 10 μ. The result is that they are not detectable even under magnification since the dots are camouflaged in the imperfections of the printed material.

The detection tool can be a simple flatbed scanner, or a digital camera.
